I’m a singer songwriter. For the berklee school of music audition (1 year away), you have to sight sing as part of your audition. I’m in the midst of learning how to sight sing piano, so if i learn how to sight sing piano, will i be able to sight sing too since i can “read music”?

Sight singing is difficult if you are not used to it but any practice is going to help and that is the key…practice!! Try and relate the different intervals to pieces/songs you already know (perfect fifth – twinkle twinkle, major second – frere jacques etc, a list of these can be found on the web). Then carefully run through the melody in your mind before attempting to sing it….it can also help to sing the scale of the key you are in before you start.
